Hans Christian Andersen
Fairy Tales

Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875)was born
in the provincial town of Odense,Denmark, the only
son of a cobbler, and an illiterate washerwoman. 
He went to Copenhagen at age fourteen, aspiring
to be a performer in the theater, but he eventually
found his calling as a writer and teller of tales.
He wrote more than 150 tales as well as several 
novels and three autobiographies.
