Leif Eriksson set foot in North America 500 years before Christopher Columbus. Eriksson had heard that fellow Vikings spotted land far west of Greenland, their home. He prepared a crew and set sail across the Atlantic. Eriksson explored an area he named Vinland, when he returned home, Eriksson was hailed a hero and inspired other vikings to explore the new world. |
